Change to photographic occlusal views requirement
Beginning with the 2010 exam, maxillary and mandibular occlusal views are mandatory in each photographic series if treatment was initiated on or after March 1, 2009.

Superimpositions
Where initial and final cephalograms are not performed on the same unit, cephalometric tracings are still required, but superimposition(s) are not required. It is the responsibility of the examinee to explain the reason for the absence of superimposition(s). Also, the examinee must be prepared to explain the changes that occurred during treatment.

Written Case Report and Synopsis of Case Reports
The Written Case Report will be an electronic form for the 2010 exam. The Synopsis of Case Reports is no longer required. Four reports will be submitted electronically for each case: Written Case Report, Discrepancy Index, Cast-Radiograph Evaluation and Case Management Forms.

Case Report Form Package
All form data required for one case report have been combined into a downloadable PDF Case Report Work File which includes form instructions. You will have the option of uploading data from the Case Report Work File to the ABO's electronic form webpages.

Electronic submission of case report forms
Case report data must be submitted to the ABO electronically prior to your exam date. You will log into the ABO's electronic form webpages and choose whether to enter your case report data directly or to upload your PDF Case Report Work File. Case report forms will not be included in the case notebook. The ABOs electronic submission webpages will be available after July 1; examinees will receive instructions after exam registration.

Final Casts - clarification
The Board requires that final casts be a direct plaster/stone reproduction of the occlusal result, trimmed to ABO specifications, and/or mounted in centric relation, after intraoral impressions are produced. Stereolithic or other reconstructed casts created from computer generated images are unacceptable.

Current ABO exam specifications apply - clarification
Currently published ABO clinical exam specifications apply to each year's exam, no matter when the examinee began gathering records.
