This 12-year 6-month-old female is concerned about the
prominent canines, but her mother is a dental hygienist and is
also worried about her daughter's posterior occlusion. Her
mother has an anteriorly displaced disk in her left TMJ, and is
concerned that her daughter will eventually have the same
problem. Her daughter used a pacifier until 3 years of age, but
does not admit to any finger habits recently. The mother is
concerned because the pediatric dentist recommended the removal
of the primary canines, and she feels that this may have
contributed to her daughter's malocclusion.
