For the BCOE, you will be shown records for two separate patients. For this sample exam, you will only see records for one patient.

Your Assigned Case #1

Examinees will be asked to study the Board Case records (dental casts, radiographs, photographs and medical/dental history) for two cases and then respond to the following four areas for discussion with examiners:

  1. Diagnose the case with the Angle molar classification of the malocclusion and a problem list.
  2. Formulate your treatment objectives for this patient.
  3. Identify the preferred treatment plan to accomplish the objectives for this case. Be able to describe the appliances you would use, general mechanics to be employed and the timing aspects of the plan. You should be able to defend your rationale for this approach.
  4. Be prepared to discuss one other possible treatment plan that you considered for this case and why it was eliminated.
