Electronic Case Submission Field Test

ABO completes a field test for Electronic Case Submission

Fifteen examinees participated in the American Board of Orthodontics’ (ABO) field test for electronic case submission (ECS) during the November 2011 Clinical Examination in St. Louis, MO.

Through this field test, examinees were allowed to submit all patient records, with the exception of study casts, as JPEG and PDF files. Patient records in digital format include all photographs, radiographs, tracings, superimpositions, and, where necessary, periodontal documentation. Four examiners were assigned to this group of examinees.

Due to the success of this field test, the ABO expects to hold another limited-enrollment trial during the June 2012 Clinical Examination in St. Louis. The ABO will soon send an e-mail invitation to participate in the trial to those registered for this Clinical Examination. Individuals interested in participating in the trial must “opt-in” after agreeing to the eligibility requirements.

ECS complements the electronic submission of four case reports ― the Written Case Report (WCR), the Discrepancy Index (DI), the Cast-Radiograph Evaluation (C-R Eval) and the Case Management Form (CMF) ― which are required of all examinees.
